Using and repairing kilns, making glazes and managing the pottery studio

Class description:

This information-packed one-day course is designed to help those who have responsibility for operating a kiln, running a pottery studio, buying pottery materials and teaching children about pottery to expand their understanding and pick up loads of tips. It will include:

1. Stacking and firing kilns, including firing cycles, programming controllers and setting timers

2. Making basic kiln repairs – changing elements

3. Glazes and glaze making - students will make glazes

4. Sensible projects which work well with large groups of beginners

5. Other pottery equipment to acquire

6. Studio maintenance – storage of materials, clay recycling

7. Lots of Q&A
