Make a wall-hanging in one day

Class description:

One-day Introduction to weaving -

Have you ever fancied making your own wall hanging? Now is your chance with Orla McCarthy, creative director of Loombeam. On this exciting one day course you will learn:

• Design development - How to choose colour and shapes to form a pattern.

• Yarn choice

• Loom warping

• Basic weave structures

• Decorative weave techniques, including rya knots and soumak stitch

• Taking the weave off the loom and preparing for hanging

Date: November 11th

Time: 10am - 5pm, with a lunch break between 1-2pm.

Price: €125 (Bring a friend €235) including all materials, tea and coffee.

About: Orla McCarthy graduated from the National college of Art and Design, Dublin, with an honours degree in textiles and surface design. She won the society of dyers and colourists international design competition. She has worked with a variety of textile design studios and textile producers.
